One of my earliest profound foodie memories was back in elementary school at lunch hour. While my friends were devouring their nondescript, tasteless sandwiches, I, green with envy, chewed through the dark, dense pumpernickel bread spread with Dijon and filled with exotic cured meats from a real deli. Blood sausage anyone? My taste buds were different but I didn’t like being different so I would sheepishly toss the sandwich.
Years later I found myself carting around a bundle-buggy to the local market every Saturday morning to do the weekly grocery shop with the thrill of knowing that night I would create a “special” meal; something that required a few more interesting ingredients than the normal fare. The researched recipe, shopping and final execution were pure joy. This joy evolved: the ceremony of creating a meal and the satisfaction of presenting a delicious offering every day was mandatory because I LOVED doing it and loved sharing it with my family and friends. Newborn babies rested on the dining room table with us, candlelight and all. The tradition rarely waned and to this day I have two culinary creatures to call my own and the continuous satisfaction on everyone’s face at meal time.
I love to cook. I grew up in Montreal, Quebec coming from a European background and had been introduced to a global palate from early on. The love of cooking came from the best teacher of all, my mom, Eva. I absorbed and translated her knowledge into my passion for cooking. Having had the pleasure of practicing on family and friends all my life it was time to apply this passion professionally. After studying with the Culinary Business Academy the stage was set to offer My Everyday Gourmet Professional Personal Chef Services.
Now it’s my time to share it with you!
